"QUALITY EDUCATION FOR LIFE"Description
Brief History of Naga Hope Christian School
Naga Hope Christian School, formerly Hope Christian School is a non-stock, non-profit, non-sectarian, and co educational institution.
The idea to open a Christian school in Naga City was born in 1954 by some Elders and Deacons of the United Evangelical Church of Naga City (UECN). Foremost to their vision is to provide quality education; minister to the spiritual needs, and help remedy the moral degeneration of our society. But due to the limited resources, the idea was not pursued for about 4 years.
In 1958 a free tuition Kindergarten was opened as a branch of Hope Christian High School, Manila by Rev. Robin Chua with a batch of 30 children. The school was named Naga Hope Christian Kindergarten. Teachers and Principal served voluntarily and heartily.
Management of the school was placed in the hands of the trustees composed of Bro. Dy Yok as Chairman, Mr. Dy Chiao Yok as Vice-Chairman, and Mrs. Dy Yu Kun Giok as Head Teacher. In June 1960 Grade 1 was offered, and the school’s name was changed to Naga Hope Christian School.
In 1965, two kindergarten classes and a complete elementary were offered. In the same year the school was granted recognition by the Bureau of Education and the Chinese Embassy in Manila.
In 1982, the Board saw the need to open the secondary level in order to accommodate the elementary graduates who prefer to stay with the school.
In 1984, the First Year High School was opened, Second Year in 1985, and the Third and Fourth Year the following year.
From 1958 to 1985, the school had been using the church site, buildings and facilities in Tabuco, Naga City to accommodate the pupils and students. But on February 25,1986, the new school site at Panganiban Drive, Naga City was acquired. This was made possible through the efforts of Rev. John Pan, Mr. Oscar Ong, and Robert Tan and through the generosity of Mr. Ung Han Liong, Mr. Go Pin Sing and Mr. John Ong.
In March 1986 another group of Christian members from Manila financed the construction of a new building and in 1989 another building was started and finished in 1990.
Since that time on, the school continued to grow in enrollment, facilities and in academic achievement. The school consistently achieved 100% passing in the National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) since the first secondary students graduated. Last May 2002, the school attained her accredited status granted by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities Accrediting Agency Incorporated (ACSCU-AAI), a member of the Federation of Accrediting Agency of the Philippines (FAAP).
For all these blessings, the school recognizes the helping hand of God, to whom the Board, Staff and Administration accredit.
