Historical/Legendary Background

Barangay Guilid was once a sitio of Centro Poblacion. It was named Guilid because whenever visitors come and ask the residents where they live, they would always answer, "sa gilid sulong" (near the riverside). As days passed, the place was then called Guilid, changing the spelling and adding the letter "u" to Gilid.

Geography/Topography

The barangay is bordered by Barangays Bagumbayan, Centro Poblacion and Binatagan. It has an area of 204.51 ha, and is 50 meters away from the City Proper. Of the total land area, 29.2 percent is agricultural land, 1.16 percent is industrial land, 16. 6 percent is commercial; while 53.24 percent is residential.

People

The people celebrate their annual barrio fiesta every 26th of December in honor of St. Stephen Protomartyr.
